REVOLTS KICK UP IN WOLFSTADT AFTER SUDDEN EXPLOSION KILLING HEADS OF STATE, NOVA ROMA TROOPS STORM COMPOUND AND EVACUATE TROOPS IN WOLFSTADT OFFICIALLY LEAVING THE CONFLICT.

Earlier this morning smoke was seen rising from Wolfstadt, where the main base of operations was located. A building at around 700 hours was engulfed in an explosion of what appeared to be a Chemical explosion.
At the same time a surprise assault was taken on a compound where POWS of the coalition forces where being detained and tortured for answers. Nova Roma's commanding officers, along with remaining members of legione dell'ascia, raided the compound from all sides. After a short fire fight with the remaining guards who refused to let Nova Roma enter, the POWS where taken into Nova Roma's custody and freed.
Among the dozen rescued where the remaining members of Douglands embassy who where being questions on top secret Dougland information that the embassy had torched to avoid it being captured. As well as the remaining pilot gunner who had been shot down early on into the Kanadorkian invasion and was being asked on Kanadorkian invasion plans.
The troops after liberating the POW's had reportedly explained they are being rescued in exchange for the freedom of the Nova Roma soldiers still stationed in Schwobenland. It was agreed to let them leave but some of the nationalists protested it and threatened to fire if any Nova Romans, along with their legione dell'ascia loyal to Nova Roma and the cause.
The troops before any Schwobenland response could be planned launched an assault by blowing a whole through the main defense leading towards the railway and take a few Schwobenland trucks. The Northern Schwoenland forces did not retaliate in time as they where responding to a believed assault on the opposite side of the compound.

The POW's where then freed and armed and given information Nova Roma had,and sent them off in the direction towards coalition forces operating outside the city along with a white flag and a multi way radio to connect to the frequency the coalition forces are using to make it known they are coalition soldiers and not to be fired upon.
The remaining legione dell'ascia then, along with their now evacuated embassy who have joined them for the evacuation,went North with trucks and have crossed the border after being legally detained after crossing the border while being chased by the few remaining Northern Schwobenland guards who had taken chase determined to not let Nova Roma leave, One of the trucks was lost near the border after hitting a land mine but the wounded survivors where able to make it across the border and surrender while under chase by the North.
The local government had detained them for a while but eventually agreed to release them to the local Nova Roma embassy with all having Nova Roma passports and citizenship, being gifted to the volunteers prior to the evacuation to avoid any legione dell'ascia from turning on Nova Roma, as well as to avoid being charged for treason when not connected to any war crimes whatsoever.

All of the Nova Roma officers are believed to have survived the evacuation along with the five embassy guards and three staff members. legione dell'ascia remaining members are low with a high casualty rate with only half of them staying to take over the North and meet an agreement with the Coalition forces, as well as a few losses during the evacuation while confronting the Northern troops. They have been disbanded and are being allowed to relocate to Nova Roma as refugees for there service. This report officially marks the end of Nova Roma in Northern Schwobenland.

Ashia Makes a Bold Demand

During a meeting in the House of Nobles, the representative of the Royal Family, Mei Tsukiya, gave this speech meant for the world to hear:

"With regards to the island of Hishoji, commonly referred in the modern day as the Ninhundish island of Melanesia, it is demanded that Ninhundland relinquish its control of the island immediately and return it to the Ashian Empire. The factor that had contributed to the Ninhundish acquisition of the island was that of a deranged government that no longer exists after the Great War. The nation of Ashia was forced to give part of its land in a term not of sensible demands. Ninhundland has not had a presence in Hezrana since being kicked out before the Great War, and it was unrightfully present before the Great War. And even being forced to submit to the Kanadorikan Empire, they still received part of Hezranan land.

The inclusion of a naval base on the island is cause for concern for the stability of the area. The Ninhundish government seems to care about the militarization of a small island where their influence is minimal. There are no assets within the area other than the island itself that warrant the need for military presence, as since the Laikanese conflict, the area has been relatively stable. It cannot be stressed enough that the Empire of Ashia does not support any foreign military activity within the waters of Ashian borders, which includes the island of Hishoji, and therefore also demands the demilitarization of the Island. The Ninhundish government however, have committed acts of war in their own continent of Eporan, recently attacking the neighbor, Galvaria. It is no secret that Ninhundland is an aggressive nation, and should be noted as such. It cannot be reiterated enough that they are a threat to the stability of the region.

The era of imperialism has ended, full stop. Nations should worry about their current nation, rather than dip their filthy hands into the regions they don’t belong. The Island of Hishoji still being under the control of a nation not native to Hezrana is an insult to the modern world, and a leftover of the archaic imperialism that used to haunt this region. Ashia is no stranger to imperialism, as we are guilty of it before the Great War, however; the Island of Hishoji belonged to people of this region before Ninhundland claimed it during their fiendish colonialism. Although the Ashians were not yet unified under a single nation, it was apparent in the years throughout the colonialism of the Western world that the people of this region would put aside their differences to fend off their common enemies. Hishoji being the furthest island, was unable to receive that same aid. It wasn’t until after the first World War that Ninhundland had to leave their colonies, by force of Ashian might. The Ashians welcomed their kin with open arms, the northern island of Ieyasae and southern island of Hishoji enjoyed time of great prosperity and advancement during this time, and the people of Ieyasae still reside with the safety of Ashian borders. And Ashia would open their arms to the people of Hishoji if they would choose to rejoin the Empire. Though if the people of Hishoji Island would like to live in sovereignty, the nation of Ashia would ensure its independence.

Ashia calls a referendum for the people of Hishoji Island, as there have already been independence movements throughout their time under Ninhundish rule. Allow them to choose how they live, in this world of freedom."

The speech received applause from the entire chamber. However; the Empress herself has yet to make a personal public statement about the demands, but will more than likely make her voice heard in the coming weeks. Ashian National Post will make sure to report it when the time comes.

Conclusion of Schwoben War Criminal Trials

After many court sessions, the war criminal trials in Schwobenland have concluded. Around 800 northern were tried in courts with three main punishments being used against the criminals : Execution, Life Imprisonment or other prison sentences. This marks the definitive end of the Schwoben struggle against the northern fascist movement. However, some fascists are still at large with the SFF committing frequent attacks.

Among those sentenced were Vilen Heldt (Northern Leader) and Hermann Ulrich (Northern Minister Of War) both of whom were sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Schwobenland. This sentence gives a sigh of relief to those thinking that the worst of the criminals would get off lightly. These Criminals will face the worst punishment that the high court can give, in the form of hanging drawing and quartering. The two highest profile criminals will be hung drawn and quartered with a further 50 other criminals being hung from the neck until dead. These are the worst of the worst who gave the orders to kill thousands and used despicable means to do so.

A further 200 war criminals will be sentenced to a life of imprisonment within a super max prison where they will be locked in a cell 24/7 for what they have done. This will be the likes of those who ran camps and caused misery for many. 400 will get off with lighter sentences ranging from 10-50 years as their crimes weren’t as severe. Whereas 148 were found not guilty and did not engage in any activity which broke any laws surrounding war.

Prime Minister Dietrich gave a statement earlier - “After many court sessions and many months, justice is finally delivered. Thanks to all those who fought to bring these disgusting biological tragedies to justice. We owe you a great debt, we will remember those who died to prevent this evil from spreading within our nation and claiming millions more lives.”

The king of Schwöbenland was also present for all of the court sessions. He has very limited power nowadays, needing the Supreme Court to agree with him to sign a death sentence, but he signed off on all of the criminals that were sentenced to death.

His sister (Gisa Diaz), the princess of Schwöbenland who tends to stay away from the public eye was there for the sentencing of her husband. Her husband (Philipp Stentz), now dubbed “the prince of fascism” was one of the higher ups in the Northern Government, yet got off with one of the lightest sentences. He was sentenced to 3 Years imprisonment within one of the nicer Schwoben prisons.

It seems as though he got off easily simply due to that fact that he was the princess’ husband, she appears to be tied to fascism due to her husbands beliefs and paired with her obvious very strong and conservative beliefs. This is assumed to cause much public outcry due to the fact that a war criminal is getting off lightly.

A member of the public we interviewed over this matter said “It’s disgusting, I don’t care if he is married to supposed royalty. Why does she deserve to be royalty anyway, all she does is hide and sulk about how her brother became king and she didn’t become queen. And how dare she obstruct one of the most horrific men from getting what he deserves.”

CSO Announces Retaliation Against Selet Terrorists Following Banjumasang Attacks.

Following the attacks on the Esteke Akua A building and numerous ports in Banjumasang, CSO’s Collective Security Council, in an emergency meeting, has unanimously voted to send direct military assistance toward Banjumasang.

The attacks, perpetuated by the Baltunese Selet Rebel Group, have led to the first invocation of Article 2 of the CSO Treaty in history. With CSO General Secretary Lewis Reed openly denouncing the group in a recent press conference:

“CSO condemns the heinous attacks committed against Banjumasang and her people. I personally have great sympathy for the people of Banjumasang, the victims, and their families. Such actions against innocent people have no place in the modern world and are an affront to democracy and civilization everywhere. In face of this threat, the international community and the alliance must unite against the scourge that is terrorism.” Reed said.

Article 2 stipulates that an attack against one CSO member state is an attack against the entirety of CSO.

Whilst originally meant to deter conventional conflicts, particularly between Dougland and Lorsalia. The first invocation of Article 2 has been caused by a series of coordinated terrorist attacks, as opposed to a direct attack by a state actor.

Despite the more difficult nature of combating terrorism than opposed to a conventional enemy in uniform, General Secretary Lewis Reed remains adamant that CSO is capable of the task:

“The joint forces of CSO are more than capable of fulfilling such a difficult task in the name of collective security. Our brave men and women in uniform are among the best in the world and proudly serve their nations every day, knowing they are democracy’s first and strongest line of defense.”

CSO’s retaliation against the Selet Rebel Group has been christened as “Operation Allied Resolve,” in which CSO intends to launch a series of strikes against Selet.

Currently, CSO officials have not given further information on how said strikes will be conducted, with the Chairman of CSO’s Mutual Defense Committee, Lieutenant Admiral Oskar Waldbauer, stating, “At this time CSO will not publicly disclose specific troop numbers and movements in order to maintain cohesive operational security. More information regarding Allied Resolve will be released to the press when the situation allows for it.”

Additionally, Dougland will also be contributing additional forces to fight Selet as part of its Commonwealth military commitments. Secretary of Defense Eslu Clarke has confirmed in a recent press conference that “Douglandic and Kanadorikan Marines will begin joint peacekeeping operations immediately against Selet forces within Baltun.”

Along with confirming Commonwealth involvement against Selet, Mr. Clarke has also stated that a Douglandic carrier strike group will be arriving in the region to assist Commonwealth allies.

After a wave of port bombings rocked Banjumasang yesterday afternoon, the Prime Minister vowed to ensure the safety and defense of the Southeastern Hezrana nation. Banjumasang, which is a member of the Commonwealth, has seen Baltunese violence spill over across the Jala Sea, leading up to yesterday's unprovoked terrorist attacks. With Baltun in the midst of a civil war the region has already bee reduced to chaos as various Selet rebel factions; including fascists supplied and supported by Nova Roma, fight for dominance within the nation.

In defense of its Commonwealth ally, the Imperial Air Force has launched a wave of airstrikes on rebel held positions in Baltun. These are the first of what are expected to be a series of measures tasked with eliminating the threat these rebels pose overseas. It has already been confirmed that the Imperial Marines will be deploying an expeditionary force to occupied territories of Baltun. Accompanying the Marines will be a force of Douglandic Marines, with the nation of Dougland vowing to stand alongside its Commonwealth ally.

Other members of the Commonwealth are also getting involved. Matahari and Erandia will be deploying peacekeepers to Baltun, whereas Kaldesia has promised logistical assistance. These strikes are expected to strain already stretched tensions between the Commonwealth and Nova Roma, which has been and supplying equipment to fascist terrorist organizations within Baltun.

The City of Maksimia was battered by hurricane season only to be thrust into a media storm that has seen international interest. The city, which is the largest in the Dominion of Bajamar and Kymasia as a whole, is steered by its Mayor, Eric Martínez. The son of Slobodian immigrants, Martínez made a name for himself in as a businessman before moving to local politics, campaigning with the Liberal Party. He would become elected to the city council, serving from 2009 to 2017, after which he was elected Lord Mayor of Maksimia and appointed by the Empress.

As mayor of one of the largest cities in the New World, Martínez sought to diversify Maksimia's economy, which historically relies on tourism, trade, and banking. He styled himself as "crypto friendly" when running for office, a promise he upheld by encouraging local businesses to accept cryptocurrency; albeit to limited success.

From his humble beginnings, Martínez rose to prominence, amassing a small fortune for himself by investing in real estate. As a city councilman, he bought a multi million Krona estate on Stjarna Island, seemingly outliving his means even as a mid level investor and local politician. While some questioned Martínez's source of income, his tax record were clean and the funds added up. Yet the government was suspicious. An initial probe into his finances found nothing, and with little evidence, the state couldn't do much of anything. His election into the mayor's office only served to make Martínez an even more public figure and made him appear untouchable.

Last year, a speedboat loaded with 800 pounds of cocaine was captured by the Imperial Revenue Marine in the Caimasian Sea. An investigation revealed that the crew of the vessel were in direct contact with Finnur Grímarsson, a known acquaintance of Erik Martínez. A search warrant on Finnur's house confirmed that he was involved in the drug trade however was by no means the man directing it. Recovered in the raid were suspicious phone and text records made between Finnur and Erik Martínez both before and after he was elected to Lord Mayor. Clearly there was a degree of connection between the two, however Martínez's level of involvement in the drug trade was still unknown. Finnur Grímarsson turned down a plea bargain deal that sought to identify others involved in drug running and chose to plead guilty.

The evidence was slim, but enough existed that the courts were able to authorize a search warrant on Martínez's Stjarna Island residence. What they found was damning. Physical and digital records not only linked to Martínez's involvement in the drug trade, but his role in directing trade on his own terms. He was not only dealing with those smuggling drugs; Erik Martinez was the one running the operation, transporting drugs from Detrana to the cartels of Aztlan via speedboat and submarine.

The Imperial Police arrested Martínez in his mayoral office this morning. He is facing charges of money laundering, drug trafficking, kidnapping and murder levied on him by the Imperial Crown Prosecutor. If found guilty, he can face decades or even life imprisonment in federal prison.

The revelation that their mayor was a drug lord was met with mixed reactions in Maksimia. While some were genuinely surprised by the allegations, rumors of his involvement in shady dealings meant that the arrest was anticipated by others, though the sheer scale of his crimes still managed to be met with amazement. For now, the city is doing the best it can to cope with the events and Erik Martínez's legacy will forever be remembered not as a Liberal mayor, but as an drug running entrepreneur who managed an international drug trade.

This does not mean that Martínez was alone in his involvement. It is suspected that dozens of municipal government employees worked for Martínez both in legal and illicit affairs. The degree of corruption within the city government is still unknown, but could very well be rampant.

Lorsalia Violates Phoenxian Airspace Over Meridover Island

In a recent press conference by the Department of Defense, Douglandic officials accused Lorsalia of violating Phoenxian airspace.

The incident occurred on Monday, with the Defense Department claiming that a Douglandic AWACS aircraft detected 5 Lorsalian MAK21s penetrate into Phoenxian airspace over Meridover Island for several minutes before returning to Lorsalian airspace, according to the Defense Department.

The situation on Meridover Island has been tense for decades, with both Phoenixa and Lorsalia claiming sovereignty over the island due to its abundance of rare earth metals and strategic location that allows for power projection in the Lorsalian Gulf. The incident is likely to escalate tensions between the two countries and could lead to a further breakdown in diplomatic relations or a potential armed conflict between both countries.

Lorsalian Supreme Leader Kuruk Wattan, in a recent speech, reiterated Lorsalia’s claim to the island: “Meridover Island is rightful Lorsalian territory and always has been. The island is in the gulf that bears our name and is, therefore, Lorsalian land. The Douglanders and their allies would have the world believe that parts of Lorsalia do not belong to us. It is imperative that Lorsalia retake what is rightfully ours via any means necessary, no matter the cost. Hail the people! Hail Lorsalia!”

Despite Lorsalian claims of ownership to Meridover, no Lorsalian state has ever gained control of the Island, nor is the diaspora of ethnic Lorsalians significant in size. Due to the low legitimacy of Lorsalian claims to the island, the international community has largely accepted Phoneixan rule over Meridover, with the exception of both Koorfurta and Treko, who both recognize Meridover as Lorsalian territory.

Dougland Accuses Zamape Of Preparing An Invasion of Mesambitu

DSB Director Isaac Elliott, in a recent press conference, has accused Zamape of preparing for an invasion of its neighbor Mesambitu.

Elliot warned that Douglandic intelligence believes that Zamape will invade Mesambitu, but added that “Mire will pay dearly for invading Mesambitu.”

“An invasion of Mesambitu will not be a cakewalk for the Zamapean military. Mesambitu has recently been given substantial military assistance from Dougland in the form of modern military equipment. Something which Mire has few counters to."

"If Zamape invades, then they’ll pay a stiff price in the short-term, medium-term, and long-term.”

When pressed about the intentions of Zamape’s leader, Menge Ogutu. Elliot responded, “We believe Ogutu intends to expand Zamape’s influence in Akrifa and establish a puppet regime in Mesambitu.”

Douglandic President Louis Fabiano has warned of “grave consequences” towards Zamape if it invades Mesambitu.

In regards to Dougland’s response to Zamape, President Fabiano did not rule out military intervention in the event of an invasion of Mesambitu.

“If Ogutu decides to plunge his nation into a war of aggression. Dougland must respond: militarily even,” Fabiano said.

Additionally, President Fabiano has promised further military aid towards Mesambitu and a total economic embargo against Zamape.

“Mesambitu will be receiving advanced Douglandic weapons systems, effective immediately. Furthermore, Dougland will launch a total economic embargo against Zamape, which we encourage our allies and partners to follow suit in.”

Zamape said Dougland has pushed tensions in the region to an “extreme red line,” responding to recent promises by Dougland to expand military aid to Mesambitu and enforce an economic embargo on Zamape.

Zamape said that its security interests must be taken into account when analyzing the situation. Chairman Ogutu stated that the military is readying for a “defensive operation against hostile forces”, claiming that Mesambiti soldiers killed three farmers along the disputed border in the Tongare Region.

Ogutu said Dougland is attempting to use Mesambitu to crush Zamape’s sovereignty at Mesambitu’s expense, claiming that they are at the whim of international finance institutions and that Dougland wants a “Second Border War”.

Zamape said it isn’t interested in any contact or dialogue with Mesambitu unless Dougland enacts a total political withdrawal from Mesambitu and Dougland ceases its ‘imperialist project’ in Mesambitu. Zamape said that its preparations for a defensive operation will surely continue as long as the status quo remains.
